The Recreation Division provides opportunities for the public to participate in diversified programs of recreational activities designed to meet the needs of all Douglas area citizens. These programs include special events and programs designed to provide social and recreational opportunities to all community residents.

D-Hill 5K Run 

This event is intended to raise funds to keep the "D" on D-hill lit up since it creates a sense of pride in our community. The course is split into two parts for everyone to enjoy whether you are a runner or not!

Douglas Days and Parade

Douglas Days celebrates the Past, Present and Future of the Douglas community. Throughout our event there is music, vendors, a talent show, a car show and bed races.

Summer Camp

A fun and safe environment with free breakfast and lunch, structured activities, presentations, STEAM activities, outdoor/ indoor games, movies and snacks for ages 5-12!

4th of July and Parade

The Fourth of July Summer of Freedom Celebration features festivities on the weekend, such as a movie night, parade, exciting activities, games, homerun derby, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, live entertainment, and food trucks ending with a spectacular fireworks display!

Care Fair

A fun family back to school event to assist as many students as we can by providing backpacks and school supplies to students in need!

Pancake Fly-In

A family friendly event which fundraises money to keep the "D" on D-hill lit, enjoy a day up in the sky as you fly to the border and then eat a free pancake and egg breakfast!

An event for the community to watch well known baseball teams square off and enjoy a wonderful celebration with live music, raffles, mascots and an authentic baseball cuisine!

Trunk or Treat

A family-friendly, free, and safe event for the kids of all ages! Which includes a different theme each year, Trunk or Treat, games, contests, prizes, music, and lots of fun!!

Christmas Tree lighting and Parade

Celebrating the kick-off to the holiday season the Christmas tree lighting ceremony recognizes different organizations throughout the years. There is free hot chocolate for everyone and prizes for the kids. The Christmas light parade brings the community together as well as those family members returning to Douglas for the holiday season.

December Activities 

A December to remember filled with weekend holiday fun for everyone to enjoy! There is free hot chocolate, cheer performances, dance performances, music, band performances, contests, Christmas lights, games and prizes!

Toys for Tots/ Stuff the Truck

An event created to help the community in need during the cold Christmas season! The community, City of Douglas and Fire Department come together and raise money, toys, jackets and food for those families in need! Take pictures with Santa, Christmas characters, eat free popcorn, chips, hotdogs, drink hot chocolate, juice, and enjoy an amazing Christmas celebration filled with toys for kids, family hay rides, and games for all ages!
