City Government Structure
The Douglas City Government is comprised of a Mayor
and six Council members, elected by city residents for four-year terms. The
Mayor is elected at large, which means that registered voters from all city
ward's cast their ballots for mayoral candidates. Council members are elected by
registered voters residing within their respective wards. The Mayor and Council
members have equal voting power to create, pass, or disapprove local laws,
ordinances, and resolutions that govern the city. The Mayor Pro Tem is appointed
by the Mayor.
