Ben La Forge was born and raised in Douglas. He was elected to the City Council in March of 2004. He attended ASU for 3 years. Served as the City of Douglas Public Works Director since 1995 and retired after 32 years. He has served for civic organization and elected positions. He was a member of the Douglas Unified School Board for 14 years.

Mr. La Forge was appointed to the Governor’s State Highways Preservation Board and has served in the Cochise County Solid Waste Steering Committee. He is environmental and energy conservation conscious and received the Governor’s award for the above mentioned in 1983. Created the first Departmental Creative Resourcefulness Award Program and is a current member of the International Boundary Water Commission.
