Our Mission

The mission of the Housing Department is to provide for the decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for our residents, which addresses the special housing needs of the elderly, the disabled, and the homeless.

To improve the safety and habitability of existing housing stock by maximizing existing housing resources in the community, striving to eliminate substandard housing units, by continued rehabilitation of and improvement to older residential structures.


Programs

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher - Tenant Based
     The Housing Choice Voucher Program assists families with paying their rent. This assistance can be partial or the entire amount of the rent payment. The families may live in the house or apartment of their choice. Assistance is not tied to the housing unit. This means that the family may choose to move to a new home and apply the rent assistance to the new location. The family must meet eligibility requirements and must meet the HUD approved income limits. For application and additional information click here.

Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Program - Project Based
     The Moderate Rehabilitation Program provides assistance to tenants living at Coronado Courts  apartment complex. Assistance is tied to the housing unit, and cannot be ported to another facility, as with the Voucher program. For application and additional information click here.

Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation
     This program provides assistance to elderly residents living in the targeted area, Census Tract 9, in the rehabilitation of their homes. Rental Rehabilitation Program
     The Rental Rehabilitation Program assists local property owners in rehabilitating rental properties by providing low interest (3%) loans. Maximum amount that can be borrowed is $25,000 per unit.
