PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE
INTRODUCTION
On May 1, 2003 the City of Douglas adopted amendments to Chapter 8.32 of the Douglas Municipal
Code, updating the Public Nuisance Ordinance that became effective immediately.
To make our community a clean, healthy and pleasant place to live, the City of Douglas adopted a new
approach for residents and business owners who violate local property maintenance, safety, zoning and
health-related ordinances. The City of Douglas will cite citizens and business owners for violations
of property maintenance, zoning, solid waste, and illegal dumping ordinances. Penalties range from a
minimum of $25.00 per infraction up to $2,500.00 per infraction, depending on the violation and/or the
extent of the violation.
The Code Enforcement Division (CED) enforces sections of the Public Nuisance Ordinance, governing
property maintenance and zoning compliance, maintaining the quality and usefulness of residential
and commercial properties.
Civil offenses are heard at the Municipal Court Office, at 425 10th Street, Douglas AZ.
