Arizona-Mexico Corridor Study Stakeholder Meeting
Nogales, Arizona 5/10/19
Councilman Jose Grijalva , City of Douglas Finance Director, Luis Pedroza, and Chairman Patrick Scherden of the Douglas Regional Economic Development Corporation participated in a meeting hosted by the Arizona Department of Transportation, along with the Sonoran Department of Infrastructure and Urban Development to discuss the findings of the Arizona-Mexico Freight Corridor Study. The binational study, being conducted in partnership with the Mexican Department of Communication and Transport (SCT), outlines improvement strategies focused upon the efficiency and competitiveness of the multimodal transportation system that serves the pacific corridor.
The study confirms that the Arizona-Mexico Corridor remains a competitive and perhaps a preferred alternative for the shipment of fresh produce and other commodities from various points along the corridor destined for the western United States over corridors connecting to Texas.
