PRINCIPAL ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES
Because of its location on the U.S.-Mexico border, international commerce is an important part of the local economy.
Douglas has three manufacturing plants; and Agua Prieta has 33, many of the latter operating under the twin-plant
concept. The lure of shopping and sight-seeing in "Old Mexico" and nearness to several outdoor recreation areas
have made toursim and retirement significant to Douglas' economy. Brief visits to Agua Prieta do not require
visas or special documents.
